Abstract

Market demands for animal production have been increasing and the issue of animal welfare has been increasingly discussed. The use of the Arduino electronic prototyping platform to monitor the production system is a promising tool to minimize costs with equipment that control the environment of animal facilities. The objective of the project was to develop a low cost control and monitoring system for the installation of swine in the farrowing phase. The work was carried out in the swine sector in the maternity phase, located at Fazenda Lageado, at Unesp Botucatu. An Arduino Leonardo was used in conjunction with a DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor to record and read the variables. When recording the temperature programmed by the sector employee, the system activates the installation's fans, being automatically turned off when the ambient temperature is lower than programmed. Furthermore, with the aid of a digital timer activating a solenoid valve, control of the roof sprinklers is carried out. It is expected that the research results will contribute to the adjustments and improvements of thermal comfort and well-being conditions, as well as bringing convenience and practicality to small producers.
