Abstract

Coffee has great economic importance in Brazilian agriculture, being the second largest producer in the world, behind only Ethiopia. However, for export more and more high quality and selectivity of the grains are required, so that they have an adequate processing in the industries. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the effects of the application of different irrigation conditions on the uniformity and sieve classes of mocha beans of conilon coffee. The experiment was conducted in the area belonging to the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense. The experimental design used was randomized blocks, with four replications, composed by the factors: Irrigation system (superficial and subsurface) and Water slides (0, 25, 50, 100 and 125% of ET0). The classification by sieves was determined according to the shape of the grain and its granulometry, and different numbers of sieves, being defined as Big Moca (MG), Mean Moca (MD), Small Moca (MM). After conducting the study, it was concluded that there is a trend towards uniform production in sieves 10 to 11, classified as Moca Medium with increased irrigation, for the conditions presented, so that the blades from 100 to 125% of ET0 had the highest percentage for this class of grains.
