Um potencial ainda pouco explorado é em instalações de pequeno e médio porte, a exemplo das características eólicas da região Centro-Oeste do Brasil. Conhecer o regime de vento e as condições predominantes em cada local é importante para uma melhor estimativa do potencial eólico regional. O objetivo do trabalho foi determinar a direção predominante e intensidade da velocidade do vento (médias e principais frequências de ocorrência), bem como seu comportamento sazonal na região do município de Dourados-MS. A metodologia considera os dados registrados a cada hora, por estação meteorológica semiautomática localizada no campus da UFGD (latitude 22°11’S, longitude 54°55’O e altitude de 454 m), com anemômetro instalado a 2 m acima do nível do solo, e série histórica no período 2005-2009. Análise das médias diárias e mensais foi equacionada, bem como para obtenção das frequências de ocorrência (absoluta e relativa) para direção (intervalos de 15°) e velocidade (intervalos de 0,5 m.s<sup>-1</sup>). A partir dos resultados obtidos, destacam-se as seguintes conclusões: a) A direção do vento predominante é Nordeste (NE); b) No mês de janeiro, a velocidade média diária do vento é (1,4±0,2) m.s<sup>-1</sup>, e no período anual a velocidade média diária é (2,0±0,5) m.s<sup>-1</sup>; c) A representação de médias diárias mantém as características originais do fenômeno (o que não ocorre com médias mensais), que é o comportamento estatístico típico das distribuições de Weibull e Rayleigh encontradas na literatura.</p><p class="Keywords"><strong>PALAVRAS-CHAVE:</strong> Energia eólica; Potencial eólico; Energias renováveis; Energia na agricultura; Turbinas eólicas.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p class="Keywords"><strong>PREVAILING DIRECTION, WIND SPEED AND ITS OCCURRENCE FREQUENCY IN DOURADOS-MS</strong></p><p class="Abstract"><strong>ABSTRACT:</strong> The use of wind energy has been the subject of intense research development and activities. It is a potential energy source still unexplored in small and medium-sized facilities, example of wind characteristics of Brazil´s Central-West region. To know the wind regime and the prevailing conditions in each location is important for a better estimate of the regional wind power potential. The objective of this work was to determine the predominant direction and intensity of wind speed (medium-sized and major frequencies of occurrence), as well as its seasonal behavior in the municipality of Dourados-MS. The methodology considers the data recorded every hour by a semi-automatic weather station located on UFGD campus (latitude 22° 11’ S, longitude 54° 55’ e altitude of 454 m), with an anemometer installed at 2 m above ground level, and historical series in the period 2005-2009. Analysis of daily and monthly average were addressed, as well as the frequencies of occurrence (absolute and relative),direction (15° intervals) and speed (0.5 m.s<sup>-1</sup> intervals) obtained. The following conclusions are highlighted: a) the predominant wind direction is North-East (NE); (b) in January, the wind average speed is 1.4 ± 0.2 m.s<sup>-1</sup>, and the wind annual average daily speed is 2.0 ± 0.5 m.s<sup>-1</sup>; c) the daily average maintains the original characteristics of the phenomenon (which does not occur to monthly averages), which is represented by the typical statistical behavior of the Weibull and Rayleigh distributions found in the literature.</p><p><strong>KEYWORDS:</strong> Wind energy; Wind power potential; Renewable energies; Energy in agriculture; Wind turbines.</p>}, number={4}, journal={ENERGIA NA AGRICULTURA}, author={da Silva, Robson Leal and Vieira, Marcelo Mendes}, year={2016}, month={dez.}, pages={348–355} }
