CHARACTERISTICS OF LAND USE OF CONFLICT AREAS IN PPA IN THE STREAM VEADO, PIRATININGA (SP) FOR GEOTECHNOLOGIES MEDIA

ABSTRACT: The study aimed to characterize the PPAQ land use conflicts areas in the Ribeirao Veado watershed, Piratininga/SP over a period of 39 years, using cartographic planialtimetric chart of Bauru in scale 1: 50000, panchromatic vertical aerial photographs from 1972 and satellite Landsat-5 of 2011 and the Geographic Information System (GIS) Idrisi Selva and CartaLinx softwares. The geographical area of 1831.27ha, is located between coordinates 49º 06' 33" to 49º 09' 54" W Gr and 22º 23' 02" to 22º 26' 07" S. The results showed that the pastures occupied 68.07% of the area in 1972 and 57.96% in 2011, confirming the regional vocation for livestock farming. The land use conflicts in 1972 and 2011 showed results that prove human activities on natural landscape, because even thought the natural vegetation increased from 11.46% to 30.28% in the same, they are not preserved enough, according to Federal Law No. 12.651/12. Therefore, this kind of study of a watershed is important to understand its operation and the need for its preservation, control and rational use.

KEYWORDS: Watershed; permanent preservation areas; geographic information systems.
