REMOTE SENSING IN THE DETERMINATION OF EVAPOTRANSPIRATION WARTESHED RIACHO JARDIM / CE

ABSTRACT:
The remote sensing has been an important tool in monitoring and estimation of various meteorological and environmental phenomen serving as support to understanding, more accurately on a regional scale, meteorological phenomena and climate changes. At the Brazilian semiarid region, due to semiarid climate, monitoring the water use, with remote sensing techniques has been a topic of interest for their sustainable management, being of fundamental importance the knowledge of evapotranspiration (ET), which is a relevant component of the water balance. The algorithm SEBAL - Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land - uses satellite images and enables the achievement of the energy flux to the surface and determination of ET, along the lack of studies that allow the determination of evapotranspiration in Brazilian semiarid basins, highlights the need employment of remote sensing techniques. This study aimed to determine the evapotranspiration through the SEBAL algorithm at Riacho Jardim Watershed in Ceará State, located in the Brazilian semiarid region.  Was used eight (08) satellite images Landsat 5 TM corresponding to the years 1992, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2011. The daily actual evapotranspiration was higher in well-vegetated areas and lower in areas of exposed soil . The SEBAL is an algorithm that performed well in determination of actual evapotranspiration on a regional scale even just with the use of remote sensing techniques in areas with limited availability of meteorological data.
