1 RESUMO

2 SUMMARY

The cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) crop is of great economic and social importance for the Northeast Brazil, a region affected by water and soil salinity. In this sense, took place this work, aiming to study the effects of irrigation with saline waters on the actual evapotranspiration from the CCP76 dwarf cashew early clone plants in different phenological phases. The treatments, delineated in randomized blocks with six repetitions, consisted of the combination among four levels of electric conductivity of the irrigation water (ECw) (ECw: 1.6, 2.4, 3.2 and 4.0 dS m-1) and three application times (A - from transplanting to the beginning of the flowering; B - from flowering to the beginning of the formation of fruits and C - from beginning of the formation of fruits up to the end of the fruity phase of the first year production cycle), besides the level of 0.8 dS m-1 of salinity, that was applied without varying during the studies. The use of saline waters above 0.8 dS m-1 of electrical conductivity produced reduction in water consumption by the plants, with larger intensity in the preflowering and smaller in the fruiting phase.
