1 RESUMO

SOIL MOISTURE UNIFORMITY FOR DIFFERENT SPACING IN A CONVENTIONAL SPRINKLER IRRIGATION SYSTEM

2 ABSTRACT

Usually the sprinkler irrigation systems are dimensioned based on parameters measured on the soil surface, but as the plant consumes the water stored in the soil, the dimensioning should be based in evaluations of the soil profile water distribution. Based on the above, this work aimed evaluate the uniformity and efficiency of a conventional sprinkler irrigation system under field conditions, comparing the results above and below of the soil surface, with prospects for system design. Thus, it was realized the uniformity standard test using an isolated sprinkler, installed in the center of a grid of collectors, based in standard procedures. In addition to the precipitated depth information, it was determined the infiltrated depth by the difference between the moisture after and before the irrigation, that was a result from the spatialization (kriging) of the information sampled from certain points from the mesh collectors, using the Surfer 9.0 software. In addition to determining the soil moisture before and after the irrigation, it was determined the soil moisture four and eight hours after the test, aiming to evaluate the water redistribution process in the soil assessing the data uniformity without overlap. It was observed that the methodology was efficient on the conventional sprinkler irrigation system, in which the use of infiltrated depth information resulted in a analysis more trusted, showing the better layout of the equipment in field, reflecting in the economic parameters of the project.
